If you are looking for a unique experience of natural environment, star-laden skies and isolation, then take the time to visit Port Moorowie on the south coast of South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula.

Featuring 3 km of award-winning walking trails, including a section of the ‘Walk the Yorke’ trail. This trail begins at McEachens Beach, with its long stretches of sandy shoreline, and winds along the coastline through an unspoiled natural environment to Point Gilbert.

Beach access steps, beach shelters, seats and car parks have been provided along the trail at lovely secluded bays. There is a public toilet, BBQ shelter with much local and Aboriginal history together with barbecue facilities located adjacent to the Native Coastal Display Garden at the Periwinkle Reef car park.

Podium signs depicting local fauna and flora and places of significance can be found on the walking trail.

Safe swimming, accessible reefs for reef walks, fishing and snorkelling and a boat ramp add to the attractions.

Only 15 km from Yorketown and 21 km from Edithburgh. Originally surveyed in 1878 as a grain port, it has only been developed since 1978.

An Information Bay on entrance into the town provides necessary maps together with the story of our water tank mural located adjacent to the Information Bay.
