Port Moorowie is a quiet, secluded area to bring the family for a holiday. With lovely beaches, small amounts of traffic and clear blue waters it is ideal for swimming, snorkelling, reef-walking or playing games. There are a number of holiday homes for rent and all are in close proximity to the beach. The nearest town, Yorketown, is 15 kms away and has ideal shopping for all your needs.

Port Moorowie is renowned for fishing as a past-time either from a boat, on the reefs or from the beach. If you plan to be going out in the boat then, for your safety, before you leave the boat ramp call Sea Rescue Edithburgh Radio Base on your radio to inform them who you are and repeat this on your return to let them know you have arrived home safely.

Port Moorowie has over 3 kms of walking trails from McEachens Beach at the eastern end to Point Gilbert at the western end. Take advantage of a leisurely walk along the tracks whilst viewing the native plants and wildlife and traverse the steps to the beach at the six allocated locations. Please make sure that you keep to the designated tracks.

Take a walk or drive to our Native Coastal Display Garden at the western end of Marine Parade to see what plants thrive in our climate. Whilst there, take advantage of the shelter with BBQ facilities, a toilet block and much signage about the History of Port Moorowie, Water Tank Mural story, Bangarra Country (Narungga Tribe) and where you will find amenities in Port Moorowie. A community library is available there as well.

Drive along McEachens Beach Road and Marine Parade to observe various pieces of stobie pole art. Many pieces are mosaics but some are painted and all depict various aspects of Port Moorowie. A big thank you to a past resident, Veronika Kempson, who worked tirelessly to complete these pieces of art thanks to a grant we received from FRRR Foundation.

Shipping was a large part of the past history of Port Moorowie and still continues to be in existence today. The necessity for lighthouses to prevent hazardous conditions for ships became a reality considering the land formation. Take the scenic drive from Port Moorowie and view the lighthouse or become mesmerised by the light as it flashes at night warning ships of the dangerous conditions.

Next to the Information Bay is a squatters water tank that has been painted with a unique historical themed mural. More photos can be found in the gallery.
